Roo's Friendship Lesson

Authors Note: In this piece, I created a story based off some of the characters from Winnie the Pooh. You should be able to see how I conveyed Roo to learn a lesson from Pooh. Friendship is something everyone wants or has. When an argument strikes, Pooh changes the way Roo looks at the situation, and changed Roo in the heart and soul. This is piece is connected to me in many ways.I have had some friendship battles before, and my mom has taught me to forgive and move on. Please look for how this could relate to you in many ways, as it did for me!

Winnie the Pooh was a young bear who was plump and yellow, had a soft voice, and had a big warm heart. One day Pooh was walking around outside and noticed Piglet and Roo playing in the woods. Since it was such a beautiful day, and Pooh had no hurry to get home, he decided to walk on by to see what the youngsters were up to. The boys were playing around with some colorful balloons they picked up at Rabbit’s house. When Pooh came over to talk to the boys, Piglet accidentally let go of the red balloon and Roo got fairly upset.

After that Pooh said, “Oh my, it’s floating really high.” He stood there looking towards the sky, then said, “It’s too bad that it’s gone.”
All 3 standing there they looked up into the sky wondering where it had gone.
Seconds later, Roo started to cry, and somehow got the words out, “My balloon!”
Pooh said, “Yes Roo, that was your balloon, I’m sure you can always get another one.”
Roo said, “ Yes Pooh, but that was my lucky one. It was the only one with a smiley face on it.”
“Roo, if you really liked that balloon, I will help you get a new one, or even find the lucky one,” Pooh replied
On going the conversation, the 3 of them started walking down the trail, with Roo wailing.
While Pooh was humming down the trail, trying to cheer Roo up, Piglet finally butt in.
“I am really sorry that I accidently let go of your lucky balloon, I didn’t mean to,” said Piglet
Then Roo quickly responded and said, “NO, I am not forgiving you! It was my most treasured gift!”
All of a sudden with a blink of an eye, the walk to Pooh’s house got very silent.
When the group arrived at Winnie the Pooh’s house, Roo and Piglet sat in different chair, meanwhile Pooh was looking for some honey. Piglet was quite shy, and felt very disappointed in himself. He knew he didn’t mean to, but he didn’t want to cause a fight, so he kept quiet. On the other hand, Roo sat on the other side of the room, and glared at Piglet. Luckily, Pooh walked in before things got tense, “This is what I’ve got, so eat up!”
Pooh sat in the chair talking to Roo, “Now Roo, I know that the red balloon was your luck balloon, but you have to realize that it was an accident. I was even there to witness it.”
Again, Roo stood-up for himself, “ I know, but Piglet knew how much I dearly loved that balloon! It’s all his fault.”
“Oh d-d-d-dear,” said Piglet, “ Roo, I can absolutely say, that it was 100% completely and accident. Please forgive me!”
“NO,” Roo said sternly.
Again, Pooh had to break up the tension, “Roo, you should know that sometimes accidents happen. I am sure that you have made mistakes before, haven’t you?”
“No,” he replied.
“Are you sure,” said Pooh.
“I am quite sure, in fact, I can 100% honestly say  that I never had,” smirked Roo.
“Oh, I see,” mumbled Pooh
As the chat went on, Roo kept arguing that it wasn’t an accident. Winnie the Pooh kept trying to explain that things happen, but Roo just wouldn’t budge. Finally, Pooh asked a very important question.
“Roo, I am going to say this once and only once. I am going to ask you a question and I want an answer. Think about what I say, before you speak,” Pooh said sternly.
Roo realised that this was serious, and Pooh wasn’t making a joke. So, he indeed did listen.
“Okay, I am listening,” he said meaningful.
Pooh stated the sentence, “ Do you consider Piglet as a friend?”
It took Roo to figure this question out. He thought, then looked at Piglet, then thought, and looked at the honey, then thought, and answered, “Yes I do.”
“Piglet, do you consider Roo your friend?”
Piglet replied, “ Why yes, yes I do!”
“Well then. This answers everything,” Pooh said relieved.
Both Piglet and Roo looked confused. Neither one understood. Finally, Piglet spoke up and said, “I don’t understand.”
Then with that said, Winnie the Pooh explained, “Well you see, if the both of you are friends, why are you arguing Roo? There is no need. It was an accident and now you should just be friends and move on. Now if you aren’t friends, I can see why you might not agree, but friends are someone who you can trust and who can rely on the truth. So Roo, you see? If Piglet says it was an accident, it was truly an accident. Don’t you agree?”
It took Roo to think this through, so in the meantime, Pooh asked the same question the Piglet.
“Piglet, don’t you agree?,” said Pooh
“Oh d-d-d-d-dear, well, well, well, honestly yes,” said Piglet with a sigh.
Now Pooh started talking again,“Now Roo, how about you. Do you agree?”
Again, Roo started fiddling with the jar of the honey. He quietly said, “Yes Pooh, yes I do agree.”
With a sigh of relief, Pooh said, “ Ahh, now we are all on the same page.”
Piglet then started talking again, “ Roo, I am so sorry that I hurt your feelings. It was not intended and I am truly sorry. Please forgive me. I really am sorry.”
“No,” Roo said, “ I am sorry, I shouldn’t have argued and I should’ve just listened to your side of the story. I was stubborn and very rude, I should be the one that is sorry. Do you forgive me?”
Piglet’s face went from a worried look to smile that stretched from ear to ear. He couldn’t say much more, so instead, he went up to Roo and gave him the biggest hug in the world. When Roo realized what was going on, he returned the hug, with a bigger satisfaction. He held Piglet tight and swung around in circles with his best friend. Then, that’s when another thing happened. Roo’s tail, hit the honey pot, and made a mess everywhere on the floor. Roo had a worried look on his face and said the words, “Uh oh.”
Then Piglet said, “Oh d-d-d-dear.”
And Pooh said, “It was an accident, and it’s all good, we can move on and this is something that is easier to clean up than a friendship.”
Roo apologized and said, “ I am sorry Pooh, it was an accident. Now, I can say I made an accident.”
All 3 boys looked at each other with a smile on their faces. And all at once, they laughed and laughed. A lesson was learned on this day. Forgiveness is a big key in a friendship. Never let the bad side of you get in between you and a friend. From that day on, they all forgave.
